CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

According to UNESCO's Recommendation on the Safeguarding of traditional culture, CIOFF cultural activities:
- have their definition in CIOFF Charter on cultural policy;
- are concretely implemented through cultural programmes;
- have a scientific basis with national and international conferences on issues concerning traditional culture.

| To insure the application of its cultural policy, CIOFF has created a Cultural Commission with the Permanent Representative to UNESCO as member ex officio. |
Each year CIOFF accomplishes a big number of tasks:
- coordination of about 250 International Festivals;
- - international exchange between folklore groups, reaching some 50 000 amateur artists;
- participation in UNESCO programs;
- transmission of cultural heritage to children and youth;
- conferences, symposiums and exhibitions;
- publications - festival calendar, Information Bulletin, reports;
- cooperation with various national and international organizations and with other non-governmental organizatoins;
- involvement of 20-25 000 volunteers in CIOFF events;
CIOFF World Folkloriada, every 4 years.
