CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

According to UNESCO's Recommendation on the Safeguarding of traditional culture, CIOFF cultural activities:  have their definition in CIOFF Charter on cultural policy; are concretely implemented through cultural programmes;  have a scientific basis with national and international conferences on issues concerning traditional culture.
To insure the application of its cultural policy, CIOFF has created a Cultural Commission with the Permanent Representative to UNESCO as member ex officio.

Each year CIOFF accomplishes a big number of tasks:

• coordination of about 250 International Festivals;
• - international exchange between folklore groups, reaching some 50 000 amateur artists;
• participation in UNESCO programs;
• transmission of cultural heritage to children and youth;
• conferences, symposiums and exhibitions;
• publications - festival calendar, Information Bulletin, reports;
• cooperation with various national and international organizations and with other non-governmental organizatoins;
• involvement of 20-25 000 volunteers in CIOFF events;
  CIOFF World Folkloriada, every 4 years.
